Each
and every one of us has encountered the realities of youthful operators at one time or another. Whether it through our own
teen’s successes and failures or those of others, the experience can be quite frustrating and sometimes even deadly.
Recent
statistics show automotive accidents are the number one killer of teens in America
today, with no end in sight.
According
to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 1999 alone, nearly 8,200 teens were fatally injured in driving related
accidents. In the last decade, over 68,000 teens have died in car crashes, and their fatality rate is four times higher than
that of drivers aged 25-69.
With your help and resources Cars and Kids, Inc. hopes to educate nearly 400 area families
and their teen drivers of the many driving dangers they could encounter. Our goal is to reach these families by the end of
2006.
The
implementation of the “How’s My Driving” bumper sticker campaign and our education programs will give concerned parents the tools needed to keep their loved ones safe in today’s hectic
driving environment.
